Saltash Battle

Monday evening saw us taking on Saltash and Ivybridge camera clubs in a fight to the death (ok, perhaps not quite to the death!) in the yearly 3-way club battle!

We have not won this competition for several years and we decided to make extra effort this year and it paid off! The competition is split into 2 parts, projected images and prints.

Projected images were judged first and we came first out of the 3 clubs.

For the printed images, we came second behind Saltash but we still had enough points to take the overall victory!

Brian Price Cup - Winners!

After four rounds we finally get to see who's won overall and it was a tightly run competition with 3 possible winners all competing in the final round.  As was last year, consistency was the key as again the overall winner did not come first in any single round.

Overall first place was Tim Gilbert, second place was Helen Moore and third place was Jan Martin!

Congratulations everyone!

Pond Life

The fourth and final part of our in-house judged competition and this time we're delving into the murky depths of pond life!

For this part the winner was Helen Moore with her fantastic shot of a Kingfisher holding his lunch, second place goes to Jan Martin with her crystal clear image of Dragonflies while third place was Tim Gilbert with a wonderfully lit shot of some baby ducklings.

Harry Wiltshire Competition

The Harry Wiltshire Competition is a "triptych" competition, this means that while each image must stand on it's own, it must also work together with the other 2 images in the panel to form a cohesive whole.

Congratulations to Bill for first place with "Fading Flowers in the Window", James took second place with "Green Crowned Brilliant" and Tim came third with "Pollyjoke Poppies"

Monochrome Competition

The first evening of the new year and we were off with a cracker... it was fantastic to see so many high-quality prints in the monochrome competition and I did not envy the judges task of attempting to pick a winner!

Congratulations go to Janet Downes who took first place with her beautifully crafted image of some flowers, second place went to Richard Lawrence with his slightly creepy shot of an art installation, and third place goes to Jon Burtoft with his imaginative take on Smeaton's Tower.

Patterns In Nature

The first installment of our in-house four-part competition! This first competition was titled "Patterns In Nature" and we had a plethora of wonderful shots to choose from, but in the end first prize went to Andy with his shot of cactus, 2nd place goes to Jon for his black-and-white trees and third place went to Tim with patterns in the sand.

Well done to everyone who entered, some fabulous entries on display!

Rapson Cup

Some stunning images in the competition this year, and I don't think that anyone could be called a loser but congratulations to Andy for securing both first and second place with "Evening Calm" and "Cotehele House" respectively, while Janet scooped third place with "The Co-op".

The Rapson Cup is a "Triptych" competition which requires 3 images that work together to form a whole panel, a tricky task as each image should stand up in it's own right as well as contribute to the panel.

Chairman's Competition

This year the Chairman's Competition was titled "The Beauty of Cornwall" where we were tasked with creating an image that says "Cornwall" in a single shot, and we were not disappointed with the creativity shown by the club members!

1st place went to James with his shot which incorporated multiple Cornish elements, 2nd place went to Helen with her Poldark themed shot and 3rd place goes to Peter with a shot from our glorious coastline... congratulations to you all!

Oatey Cup

First week back and we're straight into action! This week sees the return of the Oatey Cup, a competition judged in-house which allows the members to show some of their best work they've achieved of the summer.

Andy took first place with his stunningly detailed shot of a rose, followed by Tim in second and third places. Highly Commended was Richard L with his head shot of a Golden Eagle, and Andy taking Commended with Roche Rock.
