This week saw the results for the Bill Mammatt Cup, a competition that's dedicated to the members who have not won a competition so far this year, giving them an opportunity to showcase their work.
This year the top spot was taken by Helen with "In The Rain", Helen also took second place with "Holi - Hindu Festival of Colour", with Jon in third place and Daphne taking home the Highly Commended with "Summer Days".
This week saw the results of our two natural history competitions, The Haworth Cup for printed images & The John Armstrong Salver for projected images.
Congratulations go to Jan for winning The Haworth Cup with her shot "Baby Robin", with second place being taken by Tim with "Squirrel" and 3rd place went to Andy for "Bittern".
The winner of The John Armstrong Salver was James with his shot "Glaucous Gull and Catch", with second place going to Richard L with "Swallow Feeding Water" and 3rd place going to Andy for "Total eclipse of the sun from Western Isles".
I think if there's one take-away from the competition it's that in future we should aim for conservative photo names!
The Saltash Battle is a annual three-way club competition between Saltash, Ivybridge and Liskeard, each year the clubs submit 8 prints and 8 digital images and all to be marked out of 20 points.
While we put up a valiant effort with two images scoring 19 out of a possible 20, including Janet's stunning "Night Sortie" and Helen's fantastic "Zebra's Drinking", alas it was not to be and we were just shy of the totals scored by Saltash and Ivybridge.
We'd like to thank the members of Saltash for making us feel welcome, and also congratulate them and Ivybridge for some amazing images!
Another great evening at the Liskeard Camera Club! A full night including the final part to our internally judged competition, hand in for the 2 Nature Competitions, a presentation on timelapses and a look through Jon's images from Carlyon Bay... phew!
Firstly congratulations to Ruth for first place in the final of our four-part internal competition, with the title "patterns":
The overall winner of the four-part competition was our own chairman Richard, who managed a good showing at each of the four competitions netting him enough points for the overall win!
Next we had a talk on how to produce time-lapse videos, and being the brave souls we are we created a new time-lapse of the evening in a live demonstration!
Finally, Jon gave us a presentation on his images from Carlyon Bay with his own unique twist!
The results are in for the Harry Wiltshire competition, congratulations to Andy for 1st place with his excellent set "Tulips", the winners are as follows:
This is a particularly tough competition as each "triptych" (or panel of three in plain English!) must work not only as an individual image, but also all three images must work harmoniously with each other to create one cohesive whole.
Here are all the winners and commended images:
We're at stage 3 of our new 4 stage in-house judged competition and this week it was the theme of "winter" and we had another cracking set of images!
It seemed to be a day for animals and children with these shots taking the 3 top places (images to follow).
The competition is still wide-open with 8 people who are still in contention for the top-spot, it's all to play for in the final "patterns" category!
Wow, what a selection of images tonight! 62 images, all of an outstanding quality... so much so that the judge felt it necessary to give 5 commended awards and 5 highly commended awards on top of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places!
3rd place goes to Helen with "zebras drinking"
2nd place goes to Peter with "Global Warming"
and taking the top-spot is Janet with "The Printer"
and finally, here's all the commended and highly-commended images together with the winners
Well done to everyone who participated, there were some cracking entries his year and I think the judges had their work cut out to pick a winner!
It's always interesting to see what the judges have to say and there was plenty of feedback given, but there can only be one winner and this time it was the turn of Bill to take first and second place with his flower picture while Jon takes third place with Colliford Trees.
Congratulations to the winners!
